Abrogate SoO pact: COCOMI

Asking if the policy of India is going to compromise the interest of Manipur, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has asked the Central Government to revoke the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement inked with the Kuki militant groups immediately.
In a statement signed by its media coordinator Somorendro Thokchom, COCOMI asked all legislators of Manipur to work collectively to protect the unity and integrity of Manipur.
Saying that the political power of Manipur will- be snatched by outsiders if the MLAs of Manipur want to protect their chairs only, COCOMI said that the future generations of Manipur will feel disgust on seeing their (the MLAs of Manipur) graves if the State indeed loses its political power to outsiders.
COCOMI said that Kangleipak used to exist as an Asiatic power in the power.
Saying that people of Manipur expected much from India during the time of merger, the Committee claimed that India, however,, is employing the same divide and rule policy used by the British in Manipur.
COCOMI also said that land of Manipur has been diminishing gradually after joining India.
Further claiming that the demographic imbalance seen in Manipur is the doing of the successive Central Governments, COCOMI accused the Centre of allowing intrusion of illegal immigrants to Manipur.
Elements with ulterior motive continue to make effort to distort the history of Manipur, the Committee said and added that the situation has become so worst that outsiders have started attacking the indigenous people and their land.
COCOMI then said that a collective effort must be put to protect the land and people of Manipur when there still is time.
Claiming that the conflict between the Meeteis and Kukis exposes the failure of the Government to prevent entry of illegal immigrants to Manipur, COCOMI alleged that the conflict could have been averted had the politicians and high ranking officials in State understand the threat in advance instead of living like high class citizens.
"The ailment has become serious as it wasn't diagnose on time," COCOMI added.
"Today, the people of Manipur and the Government have bend their knees to narco-terrorists due to the failure of the successive Governments to identify the threats of the State," COCOMI alleged.
COCOMI went on to claim that people who managed to sneak into Manipur from Myanmar have started claiming ownership of "our land" .
Saying that every Manipur clearly know who instigated the violence in Manipur, COCOMI asked the Kukis of Manipuf to convey their heartfelt words about the conflict to the people' .
It also claimed that the intruders from Manipur don't care about the indigenous
folks of Manipur.
