Protest staged against Kyamgei firing

Imphal, February 22 2022: Condemning the incident of firing by unidentified miscreants at the house of Md Abothe, the PRO of Keirao MLA M Rameshwar, locals of Kyamgei Mayai Leikai staged a sit-in protest on Tuesday.

A woman named Hajibi Memcha told media persons at the protest venue that locals of Kyamgei Mayai Leikai strongly condemn the incident of firing towards residential area in the middle of night in connection with the election and such threat in the name of election should not be done.

She also said that people must be allowed to give their votes to candidates of their choices without any fear.

Regarding the firing incident, Md Abothe said that he was awaken by sound of some gun shots in the locality at about 1.30 am on Tuesday and several rounds were fired towards his house later at about 2am.The unidentified gunmen also pelted stones at my house but no one was injured, he said, adding that 13 empty cartridges were recovered from his garden in the morning.

He then urged all concerned to clarify about the firing incident and also appealed to authority concerned to identify the culprits and book them.
