NPP candidate stresses on fishery projects

Informing that around 80 per cent of the people in the periphery of Loktak Lake depend on the water body for their livelihood, NPP candidate for Mayang Imphal AC Urikhinbam Raraesh said that the party will develop fisheries department into a major department if they come to power in the state.
Speaking at a political conference held at the ground of Youth Organisation Club, Laphupat Tera Khunou on Sunday, Ramesh observed that NPP is an emerging political party in the state.
The party leaders including national president and Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma are campaigning in different parts of the state to ensure success of the party in the ensuing state assembly election, he said and ex pressed confidence that a NPP led government will emerge in the state.
Upgrading fisheries intoa major department in order to boost fish production will be one of the first priorities of the party if it comes to power.
It will help fish farmers across the state including those, who are depending on Loktak Lake, by boosting their production capacity and increasing their income, he said.
In the 15 years of Congress rule and five years of BJP rule, people of Mayang Imphal did not see any significant development in the' constituency.
Using money power to win election will not bring development in the society, he said and remarked that he is contesting the election as he felt the need to amend the present trend of politics in the state.
He then appealed to the people of his constituency and the state to support the political party, which can bring developmental changes in the state.
