Ahead of the Assembly election, a Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation Program (SVEEP) was held today at Japhou Bazar, Part -1A, Chandel.
As 41-Chandel and 42-Tengnoupal ACs are going to poll on March 5, in the second phase, intensive SVEEP awareness campaigns are being taken up with an aim to increase voter turnout as being done in different parts of the State, said SVEEP nodal officer (Chandel) Dearson Tontang.
It can be mentioned that as part of the 'Mission 300-SVEEP' plan of the CEO, Manipur, 300 polling stations with the lowest voter turnout in the 2017 Assembly election from across the State were identified with an aim to improve voter turnout in the ensuing 2022 election, he added.
Dearson Tontang informed that Japhou Bazaar part-1A polling station is one of the 300 hundred polling stations where voter turnout was very low compared to others in Chandel (ST) AC in the last election.
He further said that the main objective of today's campaign was to ensure voters cast their votes.
As part of today's programme, casting of votes using EVM & VVPAT were demonstrated.
Creating awareness and sensitization on the District Election Control Room cell was also one of the main objectives of today's program,he added.
