Polling process for absentee voters begins in Kangpokpi

Kangpokpi, February 22 2022:
As Kangpokpi goes to the polls in just a week, polling for the Absentee Voters in respect of Saitu (ST) Assembly Constituency (AC) began on Tuesday.
Altogether 106 Absentee Voters, that is, citizens over 80 years of age and persons with disability (PwD) are eligible for postal ballot to cast their votes from their homes in Kangpokpi district.
In all, 17 polling teams have been formed to visit the houses of the Absentee Voters in the three assembly constituencies of the district and to enable them to exercise their voting rights.
For the Saitu (ST) AC, first round of briefing of electors on voting procedures and collection of marked ballot papers for Absentee Voters was held through house-to-house visit by the designated polling officials.
Altogether 62 Absentee Voters i.e., 53 senior citizens (above 80 years of age) and 9 PwD will exercise their voting rights.
Second round of house-to-house visit by the designated polling officials will be done on February 24, if the need arises.
For the Kangpokpi (Gen) AC, the first round of house-to-house visit by the designated polling officials will be held on Wednesday.
A total of 27 Absentee Voters i.e., 25 senior citizens (above 80 years of age) and 2 PwD will exercise their voting rights.
Also, the first-round voting for the absentee voters in respect of Saikul (ST) AC will be held on Wednesday and if needed, the second round will be carried out on February 25.A total of 17 Absentee Voters i.e., 13 senior citizens (above 80 years of age) and 4 PwD will exercise their voting rights.
There is no case of Absentee Voters with Covid-19 suspect or affected person from the three assembly constituencies of Kangpokpi District.
