Assam Rifles engages communities to boost peace efforts

Imphal, June 12 2026:
Assam Rifles on June 9 conducted two major community interactions in Thoubal and Imphal West districts, aligning civil groups with peace and development initiatives.
In Thoubal, five Assam Rifles personnel met 30 members of the Apunba Lilong Chajing Meira Paibi Lup.
As per a release issued by HQ IGAR(South), officials briefed them on Civic Action Programmes, highlighting Government and military infrastructure projects, youth engagement, health camps, drug awareness drives, and welfare schemes for rural upliftment.
The Meira Paibis, noting earlier gaps in awareness, welcomed the outreach and appreciated the transparency.
A separate security conclave was held at the Company Operating Base, Komlakhong in Imphal West It brought together 25 stakeholders including police, ward members, club representatives, and leaders from Konuma, Komlakhong, Laphupat Tera and Khordak villages, along with Youth Development Associations of Phabakchao and Komlakhong.
Discussions covered regional stability, illegal demands, extortion, kidnapping threats, and drug abuse, with focus on protecting local youth.
