AIKS Council passes resolution for peace in Manipur, rallies planned

Imphal, June 12 2026:
The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) National Council, meeting at Shanghpriya Guest House, Bodh Gaya from June 9-12, unanimously adopted a special resolution demanding immediate restoration of peace in Manipur, protection of civilian lives and property, and the return of IDPs to their homes.
During the session, Manipur Loumi Lup secretary H Ibobi Singh moved a private member resolution highlighting the State's unrest for over three years, recurring artificial floods caused by 3-4 days of continuous rain during the cropping season, the proposed removal of Ithai Barrage, and the submergence of over 49,000 'pari' of farmland by the Loktak Project.
He sought timely compensation for affected farmers.
Under the resolution, AIKS units across all States and UTs will hold press conferences to apprise the public of Manipur's situation and organise rallies in State capitals and district headquarters with the slogan "Save Manipur, Protect Lives & Property" .
Memoranda addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be submitted through Governors and District Administrators.
A signature campaign demanding "Save Manipur, Bring Peace, Return IDPs" will also be launched and submitted to the PM and HM.
H Ibobi thanked the Council and presidium members for including an accurate report on Manipur and passing the dedicated resolution.
