Senapati, April 02 2023:
Due to non-construction of Bailey bridge over Barak River along Maram-Phaibung Road, movement or vehicles and people through the diversionary river route faced serious challenge as the water level rose on Sunday evening.
Inconvenience besetting light vehicle operators and people came to the fore on Sunday from around 5pm when villagers spotted some cars unable to cross the river due sudden rise in the water level.
It may be mentioned that the Bailey Bridge over the river collapsed in November last year and no alternative has been arranged till date.
Commuters had to pass through by crossing the river causing serious transportation issues since then.
With continuous rainfall on Sunday, there has been sudden rise in the water level of the river and the villagers are concerned as there is no other diversion route.
The aggrieved villagers have drawn the attention of authority concerned in this regard.
