Imphal, April 02 2023:
Residents of Singjamei staged a sit-in-protest at Singjamei Thongkhong against law enforcement's failure to apprehend the culprits involved in the hit-and-run case of Kshetrimayum Rajesh (33) on the intervening night of March 4 and 5 .
It may be noted that Rajesh hails from Singjamei Kshetri Leikai Haobam Leirak and is the son of (L) Ksh Chaoba.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Rajesh's brother Kshetrimayum Amidson shared that since the accident Rajesh has not regained consciousness and is still in a serious condition.
He also pointed out the Rs 15 lakh that have accumulated in hospital bill payment adding that the family is unable to clear the bill due to their poor financial condition.
The amount is posing a huge burden to the family, he said.

Khomdram Surendrakumar, member of JAC, stated that the JAC had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and a written application to the Home Department in this connection.
He further maintained that in an era of technology when CCTVs are plenty, the inability of the police to nab the culprits can only be attributed to "negligence" on their part, in the view of the JAC.
As such, he appealed for speedy arrest of the perpetrators to ensure social justice for Rajesh.
He also cautioned that an intense agitation will be launched in collaboration with CSOs if their demand goes unheeded.
