Imphal, April 02 2023:
The dairy farmers affiliated to Manipur Milk Producers' Co-operative Union, Porompat have stated that they have never made a request to the Registrar of Cooperative Societies to withdraw its March 25 order for removal of the Board of Directors (BoD) of the Union.
Addressing a press meet organised by the Union-affiliated farmers on Saturday, Elangbam Ratankumar, a dairy farmer from Hiyanglam, said that the ongoing controversy of the Union was discussed in the recent session of the State Assembly.
He continued that the state government has launched a departmental enquiry on the matter and the farmers have firm belief the government will take up the appropriate action.
Amid this, it would be wrong of some people to stand on the side of the BoD and make statements without any knowledge of the facts, he said, while refuting the cautionary made by 1-2 farmers in a press meet of launching intense protests if the BOD's removal order is not withdrawn.
Stating that the Union-affiliated farmers have no knowledge of the "cautionary", Ratankumar said that one of the farmers, Oinam Hemsing, who allegedly was the spokesperson who issued the warning, was not even present during the press meet.
Hemsing's name was wrongfully misused by the other farmers who called the press meet, he said.
Dairy farmer Oinam Hemsing was also present during Saturday's press meet.
