Imphal, April 02 2023:
The Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department, N Subhas, has denied the allegation accusing higher-ups in PWD of demanding 10% cut to issue bill payment of a Covid Care Centre built at Loukoipat in Bishnupur district.
Speaking to media persons in this regard during a press conference held this afternoon, shared that the bill for the construction of the Covid Care Centre mentioned in local dailies was sent to the State Government during the tenure of the previous Chief Engineer on July 22 of last year.
"Following this, the department has not received any paperwork regarding this particular bill payment.
Officials at PWD did not even have any opportunity to make such demands for 10% of the bill amount", N Subhas claimed.
The Chief Engineer also shared some inconsistencies with regards to the work order association with the construction of the Covid Care Centre.
He stated that on April 8 of 2022, the work order had been issued to one individual by the name of A Dhanajit.
However, two persons, namely, M Raju from Mairembam Leikai and one Kh Modrasakhi from Sendra Road have claimed to work on the construction of the Covid Care Centre.
Putting this issue aside, the PWD had sent the bill to the Government and as the department has yet to receive any response, it cannot take up any action, he maintained.
"There is no question of any PWD officials demanding a 10% cut", he reiterated.
