Gold worth Rs 1.33 crore seized

Tengnoupal Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) foiled cross-border smuggling of gold at Khudengthabi on July 28.During routine checking at Permanent Vehicle Check Post, Khudengthabi, a suspicious individual travelling on a two-wheeler was stopped.
On thorough checking of the two-wheeler, 16 concealed gold biscuits weighing 2.66 Kg were recovered, said a statement by Assam Rifles.
The gold biscuits seized were assessed to be worth Rs.1.33 Crore and the apprehended smuggler and the seized items were handed over to Customs Department at Moreh, added the statement.
Heroin worth Rs 1.5 crore seized: Khuga Battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) apprehended a drug peddler and recovered 377 grams of heroin worth Rs 1.5 crore in international market from Churachandpur on July 26.Based on specific inputs received from reliable sources, troops of Assam Rifles launched a swift operation which led to the apprehension and recovery of the contraband drugs, said a press release issued issued by the PRO of Assam Rifles.
The drug peddler along with recovered items was handed over to Churachandpur Police Station for further legal action.
