4 held for exporting COVID-19 medicines to Myanmar

Imphal, July 29 2021:
A team of Imphal West district police arrested four people who exported medicines used in treatment of COVID-19 to Myanmar without authorisation.
The arrested quartet has been identified as Akoijam Priyobrata alias Bochou (38) son of late An-gou of Kakwa Sorokhaibam Leikai, G Kalidas alias Kale (31) son of R Gandhi of Moreh Ward No.5, Rajesh Bhandari alias Gore (47) son of Jeev Nath Bhandari of Moreh Ward No.6 and Bogimayum Md Firoz Khan (28) son of Md Seraj Ahmed of Moreh Ward No 7 .
Imphal West police received a report about some people illegally exporting medicines used in COVID-19 treatment to Myanmar.
Based on the report, a team led by OC inspector N Ingocha started investigation into the matter and received information at about 1.40pm Thursday that a Santro car pasted with 'medicine supply' was moving towards Moreh.
The team started looking for the car at different areas and later found the same at Kakwa Sorokhaibam Leikai.
The car driven by Bogimayum Firoz was found to contain medicines used in COVID-19 treatment including 400 pieces of Rosinox 60 in two boxes and 300 pieces of Megmanox 40 .
On the disclosure of Md Firoz Khan, the police team later raided Akoijam Tombi's house at Kakwa Sorokhaibam Leikai and recovered six cartoon boxes containing Rosinox 60 (400 pieces), Megmanox 40 (1200 pieces) and 100 boxes of Feravir-400.They could not produce valid dealer's license, sale, challan and permits and accordingly arrested them.
On further investigation, the leader of the gang G Kalidas was arrested from Thangal Bazar and Rajesh Bhandari from airport gate.
All of them and the recovered medicines have been handed over to Singjamei police station for necessary action as per Drug Control Act 1950 .
