COVID infection surges in rural areas due to negligence of SOP's

MLA of Kangpokpi chaired a review meeting today at the multipurpose hall, DC Office Kangpokpi to streamline the preventive measures taken up in the AG in the fight against the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.
The review meeting was attended by DC of Kangpokpi, Somorjit Salam, IAS, SP of Kangpokpi, Karthik Malladi, IPS, CMO of Kangpokpi Dr Aneng Haokip, SDO of Kangpokpi Shyam Kumar, MCS, SDO Champhai James Pani, MCS, Kangpokpi Town Committee Chairman, Lunseh Kipgen, Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Kangpokpi Dr Paotinlal Haokip and leaders of the seven COVID-19 Task Force of Kangpokpi AC.
The CMO of Kangpokpi stated that as of now, there are 57 containment zones in the district and with 25 new positive cases detected today the total active case have reached 244 out Of 2437 cumulative positive cases with 58 deaths.
Chairman and representatives of the seven COVID Task Force highlighted their various grievances in their endeavours in connection with mass testing and mass vaccination in their respective areas while facing various difficulties due to financial shortage.
They also sought the intervention of SDO concerned in initiating advocacy/awareness programs in consultation with the respective villages chief and wards chairman of the town.
The CTF of Kangpokpi AC also urged the district administration to look into their grievances owing to financial shortage and clarified over the fund sanction for the Task Forces.
Enock Kipgen, Secretary, IT Road Joint Task Force on COVID-19 said that there is an outbreak of scrub typhoid at present in the Twilang area which requires immediate attention.
He also highlighted that the absence of security forces in the area has become a stumbling block for the task force in its endeavour for mass Covid testing and mass vaccination as some villages are hesitant to take the vaccine.
Appreciating the hard work and efforts of the COVID Task Force of Kangpokpi AC, Somorjit Salam said that the seven COVID Task Forces of Kangpokpi AC are the role model in the district.
He also highlighted that being a new district there are manpower shortages and recommended isolation at Community Home Isolation Centres to contain the alarming surge of infection in the district as home isolation is not effective in some villages.
He expressed concern over the non adherence of Covid SOPs which is the main cause for the surge in Covid positive cases.
MLA Nemcha Kipgen, while taking stock of the situation, exhorted all the COVID Task Force to revitalize their energy and boost their spirit of dedication and also acknowledge their exemplary services so far.
She asked the CMO to make a 24x7 roster duty for doctors and nurses posted at PHC T Waichong and directed the SP Kangpokpi to provide security assistance when the situation demands.
The local MLA after the review meeting distributed the protective gears to all the Covid Task Forces and in charge Medical Officer of PHC Kalapahar, T Waichong and Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Kangpokpi.
She also provided financial assistance for fuel to all the seven Covid Task Forces.
