Excavator stolen from Assam recovered in Senapati village

Imphal, April 05 2023:
A combined team of Senapati district police and Assam police on Monday recovered a JCB excavator, which was stolen from Assam, at New Laii village under Tungjoy police station in Senapati district.
According to police, Assam police had been tracing the excavator (AS-31-C-0307) belonging to one Ramehandra Chauhan son of Duthnath Chauhan of Watizur in Karbi Anglong, Assam after registering a case at Lanka police station.
The recovered excavator has been handed over to Assam police, the police source added.
Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell of Assam police and Tungjoi police station launched a joint operation following report of presence of the missing excavator in Senapati district.
During the searches carried out in suspected areas in the district, the vehicle was found abandoned by the miscreants after being engaged in the earthworks at New Lai village around 7 am Wednesday.
Police said that a case has been registered and attempts are on to arrest the alleged vehicle lifter (s) .
