Trees planted, quiz competition held

Churachandpur Battalion Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) organised a tree plantation drive on Wednesday to promote afforestation and create awareness amongst the populace of S Kholien and surrounding villages.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the drive carried out in sync with the "Clean Earth, Green Earth" initiative of Government of India, included plantation of 45 saplings of fruits, shady and local variety of plants.
The villagers took active participation and pledged their commitment towards clean and green environment.
It may be mentioned that Churachandpur Battalion has been a forerunner in promoting environmental friendly initiative in area of responsibility with such tree plantation drives and motivation contributing towards the pious goal of conserving natural resources and maintaining ecological balance, the PRO said.
Meanwhile, Loktak Battalion of IGAR (South) organised online quiz competition on the theme 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav: Unite People' at Kumbi College in Bishnupur district on Wednesday in which 60 students (boys and girls) participated.
According to the PRO, the online quiz competition was conducted in the presence of secretary of Kumbi Adarsh Youth Organisation (KAYO) and Kumbi College principal in collaboration of COB, Kumbi.
The event was undertaken for the peaceful coexistence of security forces and to unite local population as well as to improve the public outreach.
