52-yr old land dispute ends in eviction

Imphal, April 05 2023:
In compliance with an order passed by the District and Sessions Judge, Imphal East, structures constructed on a land that had been in dispute for around 52 years, were demolished on Wednesday around 3 am.
According to sources, the eviction was carried out by five teams of Imphal East district police commando led by Imphal West SP Dr S Ibomcha at the disputed land measuring 0.06 acre (CS Dag no 615 Patta No 212 (Old) and 201 (New) in Revenue Village no 11-Laipham Siphai), Imphal East district from 3am to 5.30am on Wednesday.
The eviction was carried out in compliance with an order issued by District and Sessions Court, Imphal East on March 23 .
In the Civil (Execution) Case (No 15 of 189/12 of 2019 Reference Original Suit no 30 of 1972/127 of 1972), (L) Maibam ongbi Mukhi Devi, now deceased and legally represented by (L) Maibam ningol Usham ongbi Modhu Devi of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai, now deceased and legally represented by (L) Usham ningol Ngangbam ongbi Jandhabi Devi w/o Chandramani Singh of Thangmeiband LOurung Purel Leikai, now deceased and legally represented by Ngangbam ningol Ingudam ongbi Haripiyari Devi d/o (L) Ngangbam Jandhabi Devi of Taothang Mamang Leikai, Lamsang are mentioned as the plaintiffs/decree holders; while Thangjam Kunjo Singh s/o (L) Th Tomcha Singh, now deceased and legally represented by Thangjam Milan Singh s/o (L) Th Kunjo Singh of Chingmeirong Yengkhoiba Menjor Leikai, Mantripukhri; Yumnam Gourachandra s/o Bijoy Singh, now deceased and legally represented by Yumnam Boy Singh s/o (L) Gourachandra Singh of Thangmeiband Laijingningthou; and Ngasepam Tombi Singh, now deceased and legally represented by his sons Ngasepam Manglem Singh and Ngasepam Biren Singh, all residents of Chingmeirong Yenkhoiba Menjor Leikai, as judgement debtors.
According to an order given by the Civil Judge Senior Division), Imphal East with regard to the case on February 23, as per the report furnished by the bailiff, it is seen that the directive given (vide order 30-11-2022) has not been fully complied with.
Thus, the court ordered the bailiff to adhere to the order and submit a report on the same by March 30.In order to comply with the order passed by the Civil Judge on February 24, the demolition at the aforementioned suit land was rescheduled for Wednesday 7.30 am.
The schedule of the suit land is covered by the school compound in the north, Leirak (lane) in the south, property of Thangjam Chura Singh and Khumbongmayum (o) Thagoi Devi in the East and the main road on the west, the March 23 order passed by the District and Sessions Judge Imphal East stated.
