Kakching Municipal Council office sealed

Disappointed with the works of Kakching Municipal Council, a group of infuriated people of Kakching municipal area locked down the office of Kakching Municipal Council, after taking put a rally on Wednesday.
The rally organised by Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association (KBBWA) and Senior Citizens' Forum, Kakching started from Ka-kching Super Market around 9:30 am and continued till the office of Kakching Municipal Council.
The rallyists held placards denouncing the Council's decision to hike fee for waste collection, initiation of projects without floating tender, alleged misuse of public fund, and demanded transfer/removal of EO.
They also locked down the office of the Council in protest against anti-people activities.
Speaking on the side-lines of the agitation, Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association president Nongmaithem Sanatomba (Chaoton) informed that the monthly fee for collection of garbage from every household has been hiked to Rs 100 from the earlier Rs 50 without giving any reason thereof.
While expressing resentment over the manner in which the funds of 15th finance commission has been utilised hastily by caretaker chairperson and caretaker councillor and work executed without floating tender, Sanaton also said that the vigilance department has halted construction of houses under Housing for All scheme following complaint of collecting an amount of Rs 1000 each from the beneficiaries by workers of the Council.
