Sit-in bats for peaceful co-existence

Amai Piba Apul Lup (APAL) organised a sit-in on Wednesday at Keishampat Yumjao Lairembi community hall, here, with the objective of promoting peaceful coexistence among the indigenous communities of the state.
According to APAL, Kangleipak secretary K Cheengkheinganba every person should respect religious sentiment and tradition of others and never denigrate them with the intent to promote one's own religion.
He said that APAL respects all religions but will not remain silent if insulted or looked down upon by others.
The secretary further urged the government to take up steps to prevent communal enmity and strive for promoting peaceful coexistence among the different communities.
The sit-in was organised in the wake of the tense situation created following a remark made by Christian preacher Reverend Takhellambam Ramananda.
Participants in the sit-in called for harmony and respect for other religions in order to avoid misunderstanding among the different communities.
