Imphal, April 05 2023:
An awareness programme on menstrual hygiene 'Masik Satya' or Monthly Truth, an initiative of Diadem Mrs India Legacy was held at Makhan village on Tuesday.
The programme was organised by Diadem Mrs India Legacy 2023 finalist Enid John with an aim to reach out to students by providing them information about menstrual hygiene.
Her husband is posted in Manipur, where she realised that there was the need to educate not only girls and women but also boys and men about menstrual hygiene.
She came to know that in remote areas of the state, there are tribal communities which survive basically on daily wages and earnings from small land holdings.
Her campaign was focused on the young girls and women of these tribes and was organised with support from pastor James, who runs a school and college for such children, almost free of cost, which has approximately 600 girls studying in its campus.
The programme was marked by visual presentations and street play.
Enid John interacted with the students on personal hygiene along with distributing free sanitary napkins and launching a 24x7 help line for young women to reach out to.
