Birth anniversary of Sahid Madhumangol observed

The 84th birth anniversary of Sahid Madhumangol was observed at Ningthoukhong Gopinath Mandap in Bishnupur district on Saturday.
The observance was attended by Works minister Govindas Konthoujam as chief guest, retired Prof A Brajakumar Sharma as president and Dr Sinam Rajendra as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, retired DIPR joint director Balkrishna Sharma highlighted Sahid Madhumangol Sharma's vision for Manipur and India, while recounting that it was dream to have a Prime Minister from the state to lead the country, and that individual should not only be selfless but also brave and full of integrity.
In his speech, minister Govindas Konthoujam said that Sahid Madumangol wished for a government which respects religion, addresses the grievances of the people and provides employment opportunities to the youth.
However, he lost his life in an attack on February 11, 1995 .
The minister then urged for concerted efforts to help realise Madhumangol's dream.
During the event, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of Sahid Madhumangol Sharma as a mark of respect.
