Drugs seized in separate locations, four arrested

As a part of War on Drugs mission, a combined team of Bishnupur police commandos and Nambol police station arrested a driver of a passenger bus (MN01 1938) and his assistant with suspected drugs at Leimaram Lamkhai along NH-2 on Saturday.
The arrested driver has been identified as Siekminlal Suktung s/o Dalgou Suktung of Khousabung, Churachandpur and the handyman as Kapsuanlian s/o (L) Nengkhanthang P of Kamdou Veng, Churachandpur.
According to a police report, the team intercepted a passenger bus at Leimaram Lamkhai (junction) along NH-2.While checking the bus, a total of 87 soap cases, suspected to be heroin were found hidden at various locations of the cabin area.
On questioning, the driver and the handyman disclosed that the soap cases with heroin were being transported from Churachandpur to Shillong for selling to prospective buyers.
All the 87 soap cases were seized and sealed after observing necessary formalities in the presence of independent witness as well as executive magistrate at around 1.15 pm on Saturday.
The drugs weighed a total of 1.150kg and are estimated to be worth around Rs 3 crore in the international market.
The driver and the handyman were also arrested at the spot by observing necessary formalities at around 1.30 pm.
Both the arrested people and the seized items along with the bus have been handed over to Nambol PS for taking further necessary action.
Meanwhile, based on reliable information about the presence of a drug smuggler in Gilgal Veng area of D Phailian, Churachandpur at around 4.30 pm on Friday, a combined team of Women PS and VDF personnel proceeded to the residence of one Chochong w/o Y Yaima of Gilgal Veng area of D Phailian.
On seeing the police team approaching, two females and one male fled from the residence.
After reaching the residence, a search was conducted in the presence of the executive magistrate and civil witnesses, wherein a consignment suspected to be brown sugar kept in 100 soap cases were found inside the bedroom of the house.
The suspected brown sugar weighed a total of 1233 gm, excluding the weight of the soap cases.
Some of the police team members pursued two persons who were fleeing in a non-registered red Maruti Gypsy and intercepted them in Gouchinkhup Veng area.
After verification, they were identified as Limkholet Lhungdim (42) s/o (L) Khatkhongam of D Lhangjol village, driver of the Maruti Gypsy; and Nengtinhoi (35) w/o Paongam Simte of D Lhangjol village, Churachandpur.
On questioning, they disclosed that they had brought the 100 soap cases of suspected brown sugar from one Ngamlet Lhungdim of Phoilen village and kept in the house of Chochong for selling to prospective buyers.
The suspected drugs along with the vehicle and a mobile phone were seized at around 6pm and the two individuals arrested at around 6.20pm.A case under FIR NO.164(10)2022 CCP-PS u/s 21(c)/29/60(3) ND & PS Act has been registered for further investigation, the report conveyed.
