International Day of Older Persons observed

The International Day of Older Persons organised by District Health Society, Thoubal was held on Saturday at Health and Wellness Centre, Thokchom Bengi.
Speaking at the observance function, Thoubal CMO Dr Y Nokul Singh stressed on the need to treat our parents and especially the old people with love and care.
"We must remember the contributions given to society by them during their years of strength," he said and appealed to the general public to monitor the health of their parents and older persons and take them for regular medical check-ups and diagnosis in government healthcare facilities.
District Health Society, Thoubal DPM Ch Basanta also attended the programme during which free health check-up and yoga demonstration events were held.
Blankets were also distributed to the elderly of the locality.
International day of older persons is observed every year on October 1 to spread awareness about the importance of senior citizens in our society and to appreciate their contribution.
Senior citizens carry a lot responsibility on their shoulders as leaders of the society.
