"Liquor legalisation will increase number of widows"

Imphal, October 22 2022:
In continuation of the protest against the cabinet's decision to legalise liquor, Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) and different organisations of the state staged sit-in protests in different districts of the state on Saturday.
During the sit-ins, the protestors shouted various anti-liquor legalisation slogans and demanded the government to withdraw its decision and save Manipur.
CADA Imphal East District Committee in association with All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), Chanung Kanglei Chanura Meira Paibi and Chanung Sintha Club staged a sit-in at Chanung village in Imphal East district on Saturday.
cabinet's decision is meant to increase the number of widows in Manipur and as such, the decision must be withdrawn immediately.
A similar sit-in protest was also organised jointly by All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), Pourabi Lamjing Nupi Lup, Lainingthou Village Level Federation and CADA at Pourabi.
Speaking on the sidelines, Lainingthou Village Level Federation secretary Wahengbam Premila affirmed that Nupi Samaj and CADA will continue its protest against the government's decision to legalise liquor.
Meanwhile, Lamboikhul Lamjing Kanglup Meira Paibi, All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) and CADA jointly staged a sit-in at Lamboikhul in Imphal East district on Saturday.
In Kakching district, The Thoubal District United Women's Development Organisation (Thoubal Ima) in association with Nongmaikhong Makha Leikai Nupi Chaokhat Thourang Lup, All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) and CADA staged a sit-in protest Nongmaikhong Makha Leikai community hall on Saturday, denouncing the government's decision to legalise liquor.
