MLA Robindro tutors students on health and hygiene

Stressing the need for maintaining a clean and hygienic environment to prevent communicable diseases, Thanga MLA T Robindro on Saturday called upon the youngsters of the state to cultivate the habit of using dustbin while disposing any waste.
He was addressing students from different villages of Thanga AC, who attended a reception function hosted in honour of Laishram Salona Devi on securing first position in the
first edition of Dettol Hygiene Olympiad Quiz.
Salona is the daughter of Education (S) director L Nandakumar Singh.
The reception ceremony was organised by Children's Model Academy at its Thanga premises in Bishnupur district.
MLA Robindro said that the public need to be very cautious when it comes to health and hygiene as practicing the customary routine of hygiene and sanitation is a must to break the chain
and transmission of all communicable diseases including COVID-19.Pointing out the common habit of littering on the roads and drains, he said, "Keeping ourselves and our houses clean are not enough.
We also need to keep our surroundings clean.
Let's cultivate the habit of using dustbin." Highlighting the basics of good personal hygiene, he stressed the need of washing hands regularly, covering the mouth while coughing or sneezing, brushing twice a day and making a habit of taking routine showers.
Regarding the various competitions organised regularly by organisations or government especially for students, he encouraged the students to always take part in these competitions.
Competitions motivate students to enhance their reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills besides improving their academic
performance, he said.
Congratulating Baby Salona, who is currently staying in sixth standard at Little Flower School, he expressed confidence that with continued guidance from the teachers and guardians, Salona will bring more laurels for the state in future.
An on-the-spot painting competition for school students on the theme "Health and Hygiene" was also organised as a part of the programme.
The function was also
attended by principals of Moirang Higher Secondary School W Ibomcha; Thanga Higher Secondary School S Profullo; and Loyalam School L Joy; and social scientist Dhanabir Laishram as guests of honour.
