Ningol Chakkouba festival: Organisations appeal for use of indigenous products

Many organisations have extended best wishes to the people of the State especially to the 'Ningols' on the joyous occasion of 'Ningol Chakkouba Festival' .
Ningol Chakkouba is one of the most significant festivals of the State which is celebrated on the second day of Hiyangei month of Manipuri Lunar calendar.
This year the festival falls on October 27, Thursday.
United Committee Manipur (UCM) while extending warm wishes to the people of the State on the upcoming Ningol Chakkouba festival, prayed for a peaceful, developed and egalitarian society.
UCM in a press release appealed to all to celebrate the festival in its true spirit and humble manner which is to strengthen the bond of love and harmony between the married daughters/sisters and their maternal families rather than focusing on presenting expensive gifts thereby distorting the real essence of the festival.
Further UCM also appealed to all the Ningols to bring conventional gifts which are locally made and available to promote indigenous products so as to contribute to the State's economy.
UCM also cautioned the traders to refrain from increasing the prices of commodities unreasonably taking advantage of the upcoming festival and appealed to all to contact if anyone is found practising such illegal and deceitful acts.
The Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) appealed to all to celebrate the upcoming Ningol Chakkouba festival in a traditional way safeguarding its real significance.
Further PPCM also informed that it will start conducting drive to check price hike of commodities, sale of expired and adulterated foods etc in the market places across the State in view of the upcoming festival.
PPCM called for support and cooperation from all towards the cause.
South East Asia Cultural Organisation (SEACO) also greeted the people of the State ahead of the Ningol Chakkouba Festival 2022 and wished for a prosperous, peaceful, developed State free from all forms of women related crimes.
SEACO also appealed to all to celebrate in a humble manner focusing to deepen the bond and affection of Ningols with their maternal ties.
While extending best wishes to the Ningols ahead of the Ningol Chakkouba festival, Umanglai Sinpang Sintha Maheiroi Lup (USSIL) appealed to all to use indigenous products thereby to promote the native producers and enhance the State's economy.
USSIL also appealed to present the handloom products as gifts to the Ningols.
