RPF activists held with TNT explosives, grenades

Three activists of the proscribed RPF who were also involved in setting ablaze a Tata Winger van recently at Taobungkhok Makha Leikai have been apprehended by Imphal East commandos along with TNT explosives and Chinese hand grenades.
Following the arrest of Chingakham Ibohanbi alias Jiban (38) of Kongpal Khaidem Leikai from near Khurai Babu Hotel yesterday morning, Huidrom Basanta alias Amu (34) s/o H Tomei of Nambol Ishok Maning Ching but staying at Awang Potshangbam Khullen was also arrested by a team of Imphal East commandos in the afternoon of the same day, said Imphal East Addl SP (Ops) Kamei Angam Romanus during a press meet in his office today.
The duo reportedly disclosed that they were directly involved in setting afire Tata Winger (MN-06L/4551) at Taobungkhok after hijacking the van from Nambol Bazar.
They further disclosed that they committed the act of arson at the instruction of one Captain Rishikanta who is working in RPF's Finance Section.
Ibohanbi and Basanta clarified that the incident was not related with ransom.
Unaware that Basanta alias Jiban has been arrested, one Thokchom Sajakumar alias Ingoba alias Pukchao rang up and said that two bombs were
with him.
At this, Jiban asked Sajakumar to bring the bombs.
Subsequently Sajakumar was also arrested along with the bombs from Moirangkhom this morning.
On further questioning, ten other hand grenades and 10 pieces of TNT explosives weighing 200 gms each were recovered from the possession of Sajakumar.
He further disclosed that the explosives were given to him by one Angou to attack bus counters, conveyed Add SP Kamei Angam.
He stated that all the three individuals were RPF activists.
Four mobile phone handsets, four SIM cards, one car (Maruti 800), one scooter (Suzuki Access) and one Bajaj scooter have also been recovered from their possession, added the Addl SP.
