CBI to arrest 2 'IM' cadres in AP ex-MP murder case

Imphal, June 19 2011:
Two NSCN-IM cadres nabbed by AR on June 11 from Ukhrul district turned out be wanted persons of the CBI investigating into the murder of a former MP in Arunachal Pradesh.
Reishang Luikham (40) of Kongkan village, Ukhrul and No 17473 Ramthing Kashing (33) of Nambasi village were arrested by 17 AR along with with five assault rifles in Ukhrul district and handed over to the police in Imphal amidst strong opposition from some sections of the people.
The two cadres are still in the custody of a police station.
They will be produced before the first class Judicial Magistrate, Ukhrul tomorrow.
The first class judicial magistrate will be camping for a day in Imphal tomorrow as per a request from the Ukhrul SP to enable the Ukhrul police to produce them in Imphal and for them to be arrested by the CBI, SCB, Kolkata who informed that they had obtained permission from the Registrar of Gauhati High Court regarding the arrest of the two NSCN-IM cadres.
The two arrested persons were among the NSCN-IM cadres the CBI, SCB, Kolkata wanted in the murder case of ex-MP Wangcha Rajkumar, the then advisor to the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh which took place on December 23, 2007 at about 7.15 pm.
This is the second time in which CBI is to take custody of NSCN-IM cadres arrested in Manipur in connection with the ex-MP murder case.
Earlier, they had taken custody of one cadre of the same outfit, Kapling Laikhun (24) son of David Laikhun of Kongkhan village, Ukhrul district in connection with the same case.
He was also arrested by the 17 AR from Ukhrul in November 30, 2010 along with two other activists along with the recovery of a 9 mm pistol containing six live rounds, 90 detonators, 2.2 kg of explosive materials and five fuses.
