'Sunil was beaten to death'

Imphal, June 19 2011:
Locals of Langdum have claimed that Asem Sunil died not in a road mishap but was beaten to death.
In a public meeting held yesterday at Langdum Mayai Leikai Lai Mandap, the locals constituted a joint action committee (JAC) against the death of the 29-year-old youth.
Revealing the incident, a spokesperson of the JAC contended that Asem Sunil was returning home by his Bajaj Discover on June 15 night.
At around 7.30 pm, his motor cycle accidentally rammed a pedestrian identified as Aribam Abe of Kongba Uchekon at Kongba Lairen Pat.
After the incident, Abe's companions bashed up Sunil to death, he alleged adding that the severe wound in Sunil's head indicates that the deceased was bludgeoned with a heavy object.
The spokesperson added that Irilbung police station denied to register the compliant filed in connection with the incident.
The JAC warned that intense agitation would be launched if the Govt fails to book the culprits involved in the death of Sunil by June 22.It added that cash of Rs 15 thousand and a gold chain which were in Sunil's body are missing.
