25 more test positive to take total tally to 1252

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the State has reached 1252 after 25 samples (seven at JNIMS and 18 at RIMS) tested positive during the last 24 hours.
The recovery rate till date is 44.81 per cent.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, seven samples were found positive for COVID-19 out of 660 samples tested at JNIMS.
Of the seven people who have been tested positive, four are residents of Senapati district while the other three are residents of Bishnupur, Imphal East and Kangpokpi.
Out of 238 samples tested at RIMS, 18 were found positive for the contagion.
Six cases each belong to Ukhrul and Kamjong, two cases each to Thoubal and Tamenglong, one case each to Jiribam and Imphal West.
Meanwhile, 59 people who were undergoing treatment for COVID-19 have been discharged as they recovered.
Five of them were treated at CCC Meitram, 19 at CCC Ukhrul, two at RIMS, 24 at JNIMS and nine at Churachandpur district hospital.
Further, 24 other people who have been undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at RIMS tested negative today.
As such, they are likely to be discharged tomorrow.
Meanwhile, RIMS authority has initiated an enquiry into the contradictory test results given against 25 samples collected from Ukhrul district.
Doctors, nurses and supporting staff in frontline duties for COVID-19 have to undergo quarantine after duties as per protocol and the Government has arranged free quarantine facilities for such health care workers.
However, if some health care workers prefer to stay in hotel/paid quarantine facilities (on self payment), they can do so, said the press release issued by Dr Sasheekumar.
