MU, BVP conduct tree plantation programme

A tree plantation programme on the theme 'Plant More Trees & Save Environment' was jointly organised by Manipur University (MU), Canchipur and Bharat Vikash Parishad (BVP), Manipur Prant at MU Campus on Monday during which about 70 fruit bearing saplings were planted.
In a release, BVP Manipur Prant regional secretary Dr N Muhindro Singh informed that the mass tree plantation programme was led jointly BVP national organising secretary Suresh Jain and MU vice chancellor Prof N Lokendra Singh in the presence of BVP national chairman (Environment) and CAU Imphal former VC Prof M Premjit Singh, BVP regional patron Dr S Rajendra Singh, BVP Manipur Prant president Prof H Priyoshakhi Devi and BVP Manipur Prant member BB Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion, Suresh Jain appealed to the faculties and the students of MU to plant more trees in MU and make it an eco-friendly campus.
On the other hand, Prof N Lokendra Singh said that besides tree plantation programme, MU is helping to save the environment by taking up various eco-friendly activities including lecture and awareness programmes organised regularly by teachers and students to help the citizens in saving our environment, it added.
