World Malaria Day observed

Kakching, November 17 2022:
World Malaria Day was observed by National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDP), District Health Society (DHS), Kakching at Kakching Municipal Council conference hall on Thursday.
The observance held under the theme 'Harness Innovation to Reduce the Malaria Disease Burden and Save Life' was attended by Kakching chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Thaodem Rajen as chief guest and district malaria officer Dr M Gambhini as president, while Community Health Centre (CHC) Kakching MO in-charge Dr Nando, DHS Kakching district programme manager Naorem Romen and district finance manager Yambem Shyamo were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, malaria technical supervisor Kakching Kangujam Okendrajit informed that this year's theme for World Malaria Day adopted by World Health Organisation (WHO) stresses on the urgency of researchers to work collectively and come out with innovative measures to address the problem of malaria.
On the other hand, district surveillance officer Dr Khangembam Gopeshwar mentioned that out of 16 districts of the state, Kakching has very high chance of receiving a certificate for eradication of malaria from district, but it will require complete coordination and dedication by the district surveillance team.
As part of the observance, appreciation certificates were presented to exceptional ASHA and health workers of the district.
