Committee on Inclusion of Sanamahi Laining in the List of Minority Religions of India (SALAIMIREL) has lauded the state government and the Chief Minister for the cabinet decision to recommend to the central government for inclusion of Sanamahi religion as a minority religion in India.
In a release, SALAIMIREL convenor Yaingoi Piba recalled that the committee had submitted numerous memorandums in the past for inclusion of Sanamahi religion as minority religion under Section 2 C of National Commission for Minorities (NCM), Act 1993 to the President, the Prime Minister, the Union Minority Affairs Minister, the Governor and the Chief Minister.
A public meeting was also organised to exert pressure on the government for recognition of Sanamahi as a minority religion, he continued, while adding that the recent decision taken by the state cabinet was a victory for the Sanamahi followers.
