Imphal, September 23 2022:
Manipur People's Party (MPP) working president (organisation) Ningombam Ojit has urged all concerned not to make statements about MPP, which is the oldest regional party in the state, other than those concerning the party's development.
Addressing a press meet at the party's office, near Imphal Polo Ground, here on Thursday afternoon, Ojit said that Manipur's issues cannot be resolved by national political parties but a regional political party like MPP, which originated in the state, can.
MPP had produced MLAs for three terms and went on to form the government, during which many development works were taken up including the establishment of Manipur University, Manipur Public Service Commission, Manipur Paper Mill, Spinning mill and others.
However, the party is presently at a stage wherein its leaders are in disagreement with each other.
The dying party was revived under the leadership of interim president Ch Shamjai and the new executive committee was formed.
All the messes in the party were slowly cleaned up and MPP is now in the development stage.
Amidst this, some people pretending to love the party have been making statements to the media, in an attempt to portray MPP in bad light.
As such, he urged all concerned not to do so and suggested visiting the party's office to resolve all misunderstandings and issues.
Ojit recounted that on September 21, one Priyokumar, who claimed to love the party made some statements to the media, which are false.
It is questionable why a person who is not a member of MPP's Central Committee is using the party's name to make such baseless statements.
He then said that after the interim president election on April 12, Ch Shamjai was declared the winner.
However, instead of offering suggestions for betterment of the party, it was completely unreasonable to present the party's financial and committee report to the people, while being ignorant of both the Indian Constitution and MPP s constitution.
