Nemcha bats for strengthening Co-op sector

Highlighting that Manipur has over 12,000 cooperative societies, cooperation minister Nemcha Kipgen made a clarion call for bringing development in the state by strengthening the cooperative sector.
Speaking as chief guest during the inaugural function of Bharathimanass Agriculture Co-operative Ltd & Bharathimanass Labour and Construction Co-operative Ltd., under Multi State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002, Union Ministry of Cooperation held at Peace Museum, Maibam Lotpa Ching in Nambol on Friday, minister Nemcha Kipgen pointed out that the state government is continuing to strive for the improvement of the cooperative scenario of the state.
Proposals have already been submitted for the Scheme of Integrated Cooperative Development Project (ICDP) to the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) .
ICDP scheme was introduced for development of the district through cooperative efforts in the area of agriculture and allied sectors like fishery, poultry, handloom, rural industries, livestock, consumers, etc., she added.
The minister also urged all the cooperative societies in the state to work with dedication and sincerity for successful implementation of the schemes.
She further appealed all to join hands for making Manipur a model cooperative state with an objective to improve the economy of the state through cooperative sectors.
The programme was also attended by registrar of cooperative A Valentina; National Fisheries Development Board former member and Bharathikerkar Multi State Cooperative Society representative Umesh Pochapan; Bharathimanasagricop, Multi State Co Operative Society Kerala and Karnataka director M Lalu and Bharathimanasagricop, Multi State Co Operative Society Manipur and Assam director Ranapratap Potshangbam.
