Imphal, September 23 2022:
All Mayai Lambi Transporters' Association (AMLTA), an apex body of 13 societies of auto/Tata Magic passenger service providers operating in between Wabagai and Imphal, staged a sit-in protest at Kangjeibung ground, urging the authority concerned not to rob the service providers of their livelihood and deprive their families of basic necessities.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest demonstration, AMLTA secretary Huidrom Mangi recalled that previously, the government permitted parking for bus service providers from Mayai Lambi-Wabagai at Wahengbam Leikai Lairembi Mamang, while that of auto and Tata Magic in front of the buses.
However, the parking for autos/Tata Magic service providers was shifted to near the bridge at Wahengbam Leikai, thereby preventing them from getting any passengers.
Altogether there are around 1000 autos/Tata Magic service providers plying along the route, with their respective households dependent on them.
Thus, he urged CM N Biren and transport minister to consider the difficulties faced by the drivers and restore the original parking system, failing which further intense agitations would be launched from Friday onwards.
It may be mentioned here that around 13 auto and Magic passenger service providers had imposed a 48-bandh along the Mayai Lambi route on Thursday.
