Music composition 'Surgee Leichal' showcased

Imphal, November 04 2021:
The latest music composition of Rhythms of Manipur for the year 2021-22 titled 'Surgee Leichal' was premiered on Thursday afternoon at Manipuri Jagoi Marup Golden Jubilee stage.
As per a release, the premiere function was attended by writer and North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) Dimapur Programme Committee member Saratchand Thiyam and Cultural Workers and Activists' Forum (CAWF) president Buddha Chingtham as chief guest and president respectively.
The 45-minute long music composition has been designed and composed by Laishram Milanjeet and Irom Robert Singh.
Altogether 16 musicians including two women were involved in the composition.
The musical piece incorporates various forms of music of the state besides some Indian semi-classical music using instruments such as Pena, dholak, Meitei Pung, flute, Yangkaihui, gong, bamboo drum, kartal, violin and sitar, it added.
The release mentioned that both the chief guest and president praised the initiative taken up by Rhythms of Manipur in spite of Covid pandemic and stressed on the need for restarting cultural activities as done by the Rhythms of Manipur.
