Imphal, November 04 2021:
Claiming that non-locals are selling food items and construction materials at their desired rate, the Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) has urged the State Government to intervene and control the price hike of commodities.
Speaking to media persons at Wahengbam Leikai, PPCM convenor Maibam Bisheshor claimed that the State Government is not regulating the price of goods being brought in from other States as well as the food products being manufactured by non-locals.
Stating that PPCM, during its drive, found many items that have no manufacturing and expiry dates, Maibam Bisheshor claimed that the business operators are taking advantage of the inactive Government machinery.
"Due to this failure of the Government, the non locals have now captured our market," he alleged.
Claiming that most of the non local business operators don't provide receipts for any transaction, he asked if the Government even collects taxes such as GST from them (non local business operators) properly.
Bisheshor also claimed that Manipur has become a place to market substandard products.
Stating that PPCC will continue its drive to check unethical trading, he urged the Government to do their part too in the larger interest of the consumers.
