Denizens briefed on benefits of vaccination

Tamenglong, November 04 2021:
In view of the upcoming assembly election and to effectively contain Covid pandemic, Tamenglong district administration organised a consultative meeting with representatives of church, religious organisations, civil societies and the village authorities of Tamenglong district on Covid-19 vaccination at the Indoor Stadium in Tamenglong district headquarters.
During the meeting, Tamenglong DC Worshang Hungyo made an appeal to the gathering of influential people and leaders to get vaccinated at the earliest for the safety of all and stressed the need take maximum precautions in view of the heightened election activities.
He also encouraged the people to take the jab so that everyone can celebrate Christmas in a meaningful and joyous way.
Speaking at the event, CMO (Tamenglong) Dr Gracy Majachungliu clarified on various doubts about Covid vaccine and urged the people to get vaccinated without further delay.
She also highlighted hardships faced by the health workers in dealing with the pandemic and in convincing the people to take the vaccine.
Meanwhile, medical officer Dr Gaikhuanguangliu Gonmei noted that vaccination rate is one of the lowest in Tamenglong district as improvement in the pandemic situation is making the people get complacent.
While cautioning that the unvaccinated ones are not only vulnerable to contract the contagion but are potential spreaders of the virus in case the third wave hits the district, she urged leaders of churches leaders and civil society organisations to shoulder the responsibility of making the public aware on the benefits of Covid Vaccination.
District immunization officer of Tamenglong and Noney District Dr Sunil Kamei explained in detail about how vaccines were made ready for human body, benefits of getting vaccinated, symptoms of COVID-19 and how to take care of people who are infected with the virus.
Church leaders, village authority members and public leaders also shared their view during the consultative meeting and conveyed gratitude to the health workers for their untiring effort to contain this virus.
