Poumai programme on All India Radio commences

The long-awaited dream for Poumai Naga community has been fulfilled with the commencement of Poumai programme on All India Radio, Imphal Station from Monday within the time slot of 3:40 to 4 pm every day.
Talking about the importance of radio in the society, it has the ability to reach across borders and can become valuable source of information where reliable news is scarce.
Radio is all about companionship and the emotional connection with the listener.
Its broadcast can provide information and entertainment by providing the most recent updates about news or something entertainment related to listeners.
An earlier notice issued by A Gitchandra Sharma, head of programme AIR Imphal, stated that with approval of the Fixed Point Chart by the DG, AIR, the daily Poumai Programme would start from August 1 within the aforementioned time slot.
According to a source, AIR, Imphal is richer with addition of Poumai Programme as a major dialect from Monday.
Different people from all walks of life have been tuning their radio to the programme and are excited to listen to their own dialect on the radio for the first time.
Earlier on Saturday, Pr Ng David Sha, pastor, Poumai Baptist Church, Senapati, conducted prayer and blessing programme which was organised by the Poumai Naga Union (PNU) at its office.
Although the programme was a short one, it was attended by different social leaders apart from the PNU executive members.
