WAMA to host Chakkouba event on November 1

Wakhallon Mannaba Apunba (WAMA), Kangleipak extended Ningol Chakkouba greetings to people of every community in the state, the Meetei women in particular.
In a release, WAMA publicity secretary N Debeshwor Meetei said that the real essence of Ningol Chakkouba festival is to strengthen the bond of love between siblings.
He informed that male members of WAMA will host a Ningol Chakkouba event for the female members on November 1 at the residence of Kshetrimayum Inaocha located at Kakching Ningthou even though the festival falls on October 27 .
He also said that presenting state handloom products as gifts will add more meaning to the festival.
Similarly, Meetei Christian Churches Council, Manipur (MCCCM) also wished happy Ningol Chakkouba to daughters and sisters (Ningols) of both the hills and valley of Manipur.
A release, MCCCM general secretary Rajkumar Lukhoisana said that the beautiful festival has been tarnished by the competition of presenting expensive gifts and lavish fashion.
Noting that such materialistic mindset has added burden to poor families, he appealed to the people to celebrate Ningol Chakkouba in simple and traditional manner.
