IHCI project launched at PHC Charangpat

The "India Hypertension Control Initiative" (IHCI) project, jointly launched by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), state governments, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and World Health Organization (WHO) with regard to hypertension (elevated blood pressure), was also launched for Thoubal district at four locations, namely CHC Yairipok, PHC Charangpat, Health & Wellness Centre (HWC) Wangkhem and Health & Wellness Centre (HWC) Bengi in a function held at PHC Charangpat.
The launch function held on Monday was attended by PHC Charangpat SMO Dr Mutum Bikram and ICMR senior supervisor Akoijam Sonam Devi, among others.
During the launch function, which was attended by SNs, ANMs, CHOs and ASHA workers, free ICHI drugs were distributed to hypertensive patients.
ICMR senior supervisor Akoijam Sonam Devi delivered an awareness speech on hypertension, while around 30 locals near PHC Charangpat were checked for hypertension and provided free medicines.
The supervisor also appealed to the people to avail the treatment facilities provided at the centre with regard to hypertension.
