Social Standard Club celebrates 51st foundation day

Khurai Nandeibam Leikai Zila Parishad Member, Athokpam Okendra stressed on the need of sensitizing the youths about their role for the development of their respective localities.
He made the above statement while speaking as the chief guest at the 51st foundation day observation of the Social Standard Club held today at the club ground.
He further maintained that the parents and elders should support their wards to actively participate in developmental measures of their respective localities.
Highlighting the need to impart social education among the youths and students apart from their school curriculum, he maintained that local clubs serve as a platform for youths/students to mingle with the people of their localities thereby enhancing their knowledge on societal norms which will eventually contribute in the development of the society.

In the context of the rising rate of online interaction as compared to physical interaction, he opined that such 'acts hamper the rate of positive thinking among the youths of today' .
Maintaining that Social Standard Club is one of the oldest and eminent local clubs of Khurai area, he called for cohesive efforts for the further development of the club.
Addressing the gathering, Social Standard Club president, Waikhom Tarunkumar said that the main objective of the foundation day observation is to pay tribute to the founder members of the club.
Stating that the club which was founded in 1963, started focusing on encouraging sportspersons and artists from 1982 onwards through their earnest efforts of the club members.
He went on to state that the club has produced numerous sportspersons and artists who have represented the State in different events and competitions.
With regards to the existing indifference attitude among different communities of the State, he maintained that concerted efforts are needed for a progressive society.
