DC calls for eradicating malnutrition

DC (Imphal East) Khumanthem Diana has strongly called for eradicating malnutrition by understanding the importance of consuming good and nutritious food and developing Nutri Garden.
Diana stated this during a Rastriya Poshan Abhiyan cum mass tree plantation event held at KVK Imphal East office at Andro on Friday.
The event was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Imphal East under the aegis if directorate of distance education of Central Agricultural University (CAU).
Speaking as chief guest of the event, Diana explained that keeping good health is one of the most important tasks of every human being and it requires protein and numerous nutrients to keep a person fit and healthy.
Consuming nutritious food is important for children and women as it will keep them away many diseases including malnutrition developed from deprivation of non-nutritious foods, she said and lauded the role being played by KVK in this regard.
During technical session of the programme, senior scientist S Motibala spoke on 'Nutri cereal and their role on health' as resource person while another resource person SMi (agronomy) Nandini Chongtham spoke on 'Role of plantation on sustainable agriculture and rural livelihood' .
