Imphal, September 18 2021:
United Front Manipur (UFM) chairman Sapam Samungou has categorically stated that all the 60 MLAs should be held accountable for the backwardness of the state.
He also said that it is time for the public to wake up and understand their responsibilities.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday, Samungou pointed out that around 70 per cent of the total population of the state are poor people due to lack of visions and commitment of successive governments that ruled the state in the past 74 years.
None of the governments so far have taken up any policies to make the state self-sufficient and self reliant, he maintained and stated that the state has become dependent on other states and the public are also equally responsible for the situation as they are still failing to elect the right candidate.
Even though there are slogans and awareness programmes against accepting cash for votes, nobody cares, the chairman said and urged the public to understand their responsibilities and choose the right candidate by refraining from accepting cash for votes in the forthcoming election.
