Centre sanctions ₹467.41 cr for Maram-Peren road projects

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sanctioned Rs 467.41 crore to the state government for improvement work of the existing Maram-Peren section (34.494km) of road along NH-129A including hard shoulders on Saturday.
The Ministry sanctioned the project alongside different highway projects including sanctioning Rs 494.94 crore to Mizoram government for improving the Khokon-Ngopa section including paved shoulder along NH-102B, also known as Imphal-Aizawl economic corridor.
Another Rs 523.78 crore has been sanctioned under Bharatmala Pariyojana for improving Ngopa-Pawlrang section into 2-lane road.
Mention may be made here that Union Toad Transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari recently visited the state for inauguration of Makru Bridge and laying the foundation for 16 projects.
Among the 16 projects, Rs 226 crore was sanctioned for construction of the 12 km road from Maram Centre to Maram Duigan of Maram-Peren section along NH-129A into hard shoulder including 2-lane road, while Rs 188 crore was sanctioned for construction of the 18km road from Maram Duigan to Willong Khullen of the same section to hard shoulder including 2-lane.On top of this, Nitin Gadkari had announced sanction of Rs 232 crore for improvement work of the 18km stretch of road from Bendramai to Zuimi of Maram-Peren section along NH-129A into hard shoulder including 2-lane road.
Meanwhile, Rs 180 crore was sanctioned for construction of hard paved shoulder including 2-laning of the existing 13km stretch of road from Oriental College to Keithelmanbi along NH-37 ; Rs 195 crore for work from Keithelmanbi to Kotlen; RS 212 crore for transforming the 11km stretch of road from Sekmai to Nilakuthi to 4-lane highway; Rs 229 crore for 4-lane road from Kuraopokpi to Sekmai; Rs 234 crore for paved shoulder and 2-lane from Old Tamenglong to Phelong; and lastly, Rs 269 crore for improving the road from Daili to Kuraopokpi into 4-lane road.
The Union Minister had also announced sanctioning of Rs 260 crore for expansion of the road from Khongkhang to Khudengthabi along NH-37 including paved shoulder and Rs 278 core for improvement work from Lokchao to Friendship Bridge including paved shoulder.
