MU team inspects Yoga venue at Loktak Lake

A team of Manipur University led by its vice-chancellor Prof N Lokendra and registrar W Chandbabu visited the Yoga venue at Loktak Lake, which is one of the 75 iconic venues where the International Day of Yoga 2022 would be held to mark 75 years of Indian independence.
Ministry of Education has entrusted Manipur University for organising the event, which will be held under the theme 'Yoga for Humanity'.
According to registrar W Chandbabu, the preparation was stalled due to incessant rainfall in the past few days.
However, the university in association with local people is taking up every possible measure to ensure smooth conduct of the event.
On the other hand, selection of Loktak Lake as one of the 75 iconic venues for the event would help in giving a boost to tourism in the state, he added.
Union minister of state for DoNER BL Verma will attend the programme to be held on June 21 as chief guest.
Thanga MLA, PDA chairman, Manipur University VC and many others will attend the event, which will also be participated by over 500 Yoga practitioners.
Meanwhile, Loktak Lake Tourism Development Cooperative Society, in a press statement, informed that there will be no boating service in Loktak Lake on Monday in view of the preparations being made for the International Day of Yoga 2022 celebration.
