Extempore speech competition on 'Prevention of Violence in Healthcare' conducted

An extempore speech competition on the theme 'Prevention of Violence in Healthcare' was held today organised by Indian Medical Association (IMA), Manipur State Branch at IMA's hall, Lamphelpat.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr James Elangbam, Honorary State Secretary, IMA MSB said that the competition has been organised in view of the rising violence in the Healthcare in the State and country and to create and propagate the awareness that violence in Healthcare is a reality and to highlight the need to take up collective efforts to prevent such violence.
29 college and school students participated in the competition and it was graded into two categories: one for higher secondary students and the other for college students.

The competition was judged by Dr RK Nimai, IAS, former Commissioner; Professor Ch Ibohal Meitei, Professor of Management and Director, CSED; Yumnam Rupachandra, Editor in Chief, Impact News and was chaired by Professor RK Lenin, Vice President, IMA MSB while Dr Shyamkumar Laishram, former president, IMA MSB and Director IMA CGP Dr Jugindra Sorokhaibam summed up the roles and responsibilities of each section and institutions of the society in taking active part in preventing violence in healthcare.
The first prize for the college student's category was awarded to Kheengba Sorokhaibam of Oriental College while the first prize for the secondary student's category was awarded to Manshi Sagolsem of Tamphasana Girls Higher Secondary School.
