IMA organises ex-tempore speech competition

Indian Medical Association, Manipur State Branch conducted an extempore speech competition on the theme "Prevention of Violence in Healthcare" on Sunday at the IMA Hall, Lamphelpat.
The Association said that the competition was organised to spread awareness that violence in healthcare is a reality that all need to take up the responsibility of pre venting it.
In all 34 participants registered for the competition while 29 students, including 16 female participants, took part in the competition, which was divided into higher secondary and college categories.
The programme was opened with a welcome and key note address by Dr James Elangbam, honorary state secretary.
The competition was judged by Dr RK Nimai, Retd commissioner; Prof Ch Ibohal Meitei (Prof of Management & CSED director); Yumnam Rupachandra, editor-in-chief Impact News, and chaired by Prof RK Lenin, vice president IMA MSB; and Dr Shyamkumar Laishram, former president IMA MSB and director IMA CGP.
Dr Jugindra Sorokhaibam summed up the roles and responsibilities of each section and institutions of the society in taking active part in preventing violence in healthcare during his presidential speech.
The first prize in the college students' category was awarded to Kheengba Sorokhaibam of Oriental College, while the first prize for the secondary students' category went to Manshi Sagolsem of Tamphasana Girls Higher Secondary School.
Dr Ng Arunkumar Singh proposed a vote of thanks, IMA-MSB further informed in a press release.
