Workshop / production of 'Paosha Jagoi' concludes

The valedictory function of a month-long workshop cum production of 'Paosha Jagoi' was held at Kakwa Lilando Lampak community hall today.
The workshop was organised by People's Socio Cultural Organisation (PESCO), Ningomthong Nongmeikapam Leirak under the aegis of Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The function was attended by Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Sougrakpam Hemanta, former Art and Culture Minister, Dr M Nara, principal of PK Upper Primary School, Moirangthem Thoibi Devi and social worker, Irengbam Aken as the presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, Sougrakpam Hemanta highlighted the importance of Paosa Jagoi which is usually performed during Lai Haraoba celebrations and it depicts the story of the formation of human body, starting of civilization and so on.
He maintained that conducting such workshops will help in promoting the unique art and culture of the State and will subsequently help the artforms reach new heights.
Speaking in connection with organising the workshop, PESCO Secretary, Kshetrimayum Jiten said that the workshop has been organised with the objective of reviving the particular dance form 'Paosa Jagoi' which has great historical and cultural significance.
It has been organised with the support from the Ministry of Culture so that the younger generations know the importance of the dance form, he added.
